Why DNA Hotels loves it

Liautard and the Queen reinterpret a historic Art Deco hotel through playful seventies references, tropical motifs, and richly layered interiors.

Every room combines vintage-inspired furniture, bold colour palettes, handcrafted materials, and an atmosphere that feels both glamorous and deeply personal.

Nepita restaurant, a vinyl-filled lounge, and a carefully curated sensory identity make the hotel feel more like a stylish Parisian home than a conventional boutique hotel.

The Stay

Hôtel Florida | Paris, France

A Jazz Age Landmark Reimagined

Standing on a prominent corner near Place de la Madeleine, Hôtel Florida recalls an era when this neighbourhood was filled with artists, writers, and the vibrant nightlife of Jazz Age Paris. The early twentieth-century building has been completely reimagined by Paris design studio Liautard and the Queen, preserving its Art Deco spirit while introducing an entirely fresh narrative. The architecture remains elegant. The interiors delight in surprise.

A House Full of Character

Rather than pursuing strict historical authenticity, the designers blend Art Deco geometry with the optimism of the 1970s. Walnut panelling, brushed brass, marble floors, tropical wallpapers, burr wood, geometric motifs, and colourful vintage furniture create interiors that feel wonderfully collected. Throughout the hotel, every room appears to belong to an eccentric, well-travelled Parisian host with impeccable taste and a fondness for beautiful objects. Nothing feels predictable. Everything feels intentional.

Rooms That Celebrate Nostalgia

Each of the 39 rooms and suites has its own personality. Rich autumnal colours, floral wallpapers, tropical prints, oversized mirrors, retro carpets, and vintage-inspired furnishings create spaces that balance humour with elegance. Black-and-white portraits of legendary couples—including Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg or Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald—quietly reinforce the hotel’s romantic narrative. Corner rooms overlooking the Haussmann rooftops are particularly memorable. The Florida Suite adds Eiffel Tower views and a marble bathroom finished with playful seventies ceramics.

Designed for Every Sense

The atmosphere extends beyond architecture. Fragrance specialist Rami Makdachi of Lola James Harper created a bespoke scent blending leather, coffee, mahogany, and Casablanca lilies, filling the hotel with an unmistakable identity. Downstairs, a vintage jukebox, art books, newspapers, and a softly glowing lounge invite guests to linger rather than rush back into the city. The hotel feels familiar. Even on a first visit.

Mediterranean Spirit in Paris

Nepita brings relaxed Mediterranean cooking to the heart of the hotel. Chef Amandine Chaignot’s menu combines Corsican influences with seasonal French ingredients, served in interiors where plum banquettes, polished timber, and an open cocktail bar create an easygoing atmosphere. Breakfast, lunch, aperitifs, and dinner flow naturally into one another, attracting both travellers and local residents. Hospitality feels generous. Without ever becoming formal.

Why It Works

Hôtel Florida succeeds because it embraces nostalgia without becoming nostalgic. Liautard and the Queen combine Art Deco elegance, seventies exuberance, bespoke craftsmanship, fragrance, music, and thoughtful hospitality into a hotel with genuine personality. It is playful, glamorous, and unmistakably Parisian—a place where every detail contributes to an atmosphere that lingers long after departure.
