A Hotel Made by Hand

Galery69 is difficult to separate from the people who created it. Małgosia and Wojciech Żółtowsky are not simply hotel owners. They are designers, makers, artists, and the creative force behind nearly everything guests see and touch. Through their Manufaktura69 workshop, furniture and objects are designed and handmade specifically for the hotel. Chairs. Tables. Beds. Lighting. Functional pieces become part of a larger artistic language. The result feels unusually coherent because there is no distance between concept and execution.

Modern Architecture, Masurian Roots

The building is contemporary, but its silhouette deliberately follows the architectural traditions of the surrounding village. Whitewashed timber cladding recalls local houses and farm buildings, while the 45-degree roof pitch helps the substantial structure settle among the smaller buildings nearby. Then the architecture opens up. Large glazed surfaces frame Lake Wulpińskie, the changing sky, and the rural landscape surrounding the property. The contrast is effective. Traditional form outside. Modern openness within.

Twenty-One Rooms, No Formula

There are 21 guestrooms, and individuality is fundamental. Rather than repeating a standard design scheme, the Żółtowskys use each room as an opportunity to experiment with furniture, proportions, objects, and material combinations. Natural materials dominate. The furniture is modern, sometimes playful, sometimes sculptural, but never disconnected from the landscape outside. Twelve rooms look directly towards the lake from the panoramic terrace. Those are the ones to book. Water changes everything here.

A Hotel as Gallery

Art is not confined to framed pieces on corridor walls. Galery69 functions as an evolving creative platform, with invited artists contributing photography, sculpture, jewellery, furniture, and other work. Exhibitions change. Collaborations develop. Objects can often be purchased. The atmosphere remains informal enough that art never becomes intimidating. You are encouraged to look closely. Touch the furniture. Ask who made something. Understand how it came together. The hotel becomes part gallery, part workshop, part home.

Lake Life

Masuria provides the second half of the experience. Days can begin with a swim in Lake Wulpińskie and drift towards paddleboarding, walking, cycling, or simply sitting outside watching the surface of the water change with the weather. Inside, a spa, swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, and steam bath provide a quieter alternative. Nothing feels overly programmed. That suits Galery69. The landscape sets the schedule.

Made for Dreamers

There is a certain freedom to the place. The hotel was not conceived because market research identified an urgent need for a design property on this particular lake. It exists because its creators wanted it to exist here. That difference is palpable. Galery69 feels personal because it is personal. The architecture, furniture, art, setting, and atmosphere all come from the same impulse: to make something distinctive and share it with people who understand it.

Why It Works

Galery69 works because there is almost no separation between creator, object, architecture, and place. Małgosia and Wojciech Żółtowsky shaped the hotel as an extension of their own creative lives, while the white timber architecture and handmade interiors remain carefully subordinate to Lake Wulpińskie and the wider Masurian landscape. It is not polished into anonymity, nor designed by committee. Galery69 is individual, imperfectly personal, and full of authorship—the kind of hotel that could only exist exactly where it does, made by exactly these people.
