History Through a Contemporary Lens

Dorothée Meilichzon looked to eighteenth-century Paris for inspiration, borrowing ideas from the world of Marie Antoinette without slipping into historical pastiche. Muted colours replace gilded excess, while geometric carpets, brass lighting, velvet drapery, handmade furniture, rustic timber stools, and elegant canopy beds create interiors that feel theatrical yet entirely relaxed. Mirrors, carefully chosen textures, and artisanal details add warmth throughout. The references are historical. The atmosphere is unmistakably contemporary.

Rooms with Character

The hotel’s 50 guestrooms continue the same thoughtful balance. Terracotta reds, sage greens, slate blues, and soft salmon tones sit against pale walls, while satin bedding, patterned carpets, vintage radios, concealed televisions, and handcrafted furniture create spaces that feel both playful and refined. Many overlook the quiet courtyard, reinforcing the feeling of retreat in the middle of the city. Comfort is quietly luxurious. Nothing feels overdesigned.

The Shell cocktail bar offers an intimate, crimson-toned setting inspired by Marie Antoinette’s fascination with decorative shells, while The Shed rooftop provides an altogether lighter atmosphere above the Paris rooftops. Between them sits the lively courtyard restaurant, where a retractable glass roof transforms the space with the changing seasons. The social life feels effortless. Never manufactured.
