A high-energy beach hotel where Cuarto Interior translates Hyde’s LA-born social spirit into a distinctly Balearic setting

Why DNA Hotels loves it

Madrid-based Cuarto Interior gives the 401-room hotel a strong sense of place through rattan, solid timber, ceramics, greenery, and a palette drawn from Ibiza’s landscape.

The public spaces embrace Hyde’s social DNA without losing architectural coherence, from the signature Endless Sofa to the pool decks and indoor-outdoor restaurants.

Its Cala Llonga setting offers a useful counterpoint to Ibiza’s club culture: direct beach access, pine-covered hills, and enough distance from the island’s louder southern hotspots.

The Stay

Hyde Ibiza | Cala Llonga, Spain

A Different Side of Ibiza

Hyde arrives in Ibiza with baggage. The brand was born from the Los Angeles nightlife scene, so music, social energy, and long afternoons around a pool are very much part of the proposition. But Cala Llonga changes the equation. Here, the hotel rises between a sheltered bay and pine-covered hills on Ibiza’s quieter eastern coast, sharing its setting and several amenities with neighbouring Mondrian Ibiza. The location softens Hyde. Beach replaces boulevard. Pine replaces palm-lined Sunset Strip. The party remains. But the landscape gets equal billing.

Cuarto Interior Goes Balearic

The hotel occupies two existing 12-storey buildings, comprehensively reworked by Madrid studio Cuarto Interior. Rather than imposing a generic global-resort aesthetic, the designers layered Hyde’s playful identity with materials and details that feel connected to the island. Solid wood. Leather. Ceramics. Rattan. Woven textures. Dense greenery. Custom millwork ties the elements together, while strong greens echo the vegetation immediately outside. The result is bohemian, but controlled. Nothing feels accidentally rustic.

The Endless Sofa

At the centre of the lobby sits Hyde’s signature Endless Sofa. It is less a piece of furniture than a social device. Its scale breaks the conventional reception hierarchy and encourages the lobby to function as somewhere to occupy rather than pass through. Around it, seating, plants, art, and tactile surfaces create a sequence of informal zones. The hotel is large. The design works hard to stop it feeling institutional.

Rooms After the Party

Upstairs, Cuarto Interior turns down the volume. Guestrooms use pale timber, woven details, natural fabrics, and warm neutral colours to create a distinctly calmer environment. Beds sit against timber-panelled walls. Art introduces small bursts of colour. Balconies extend the room outside. The best ones face Cala Llonga directly. This is where Hyde’s design is most effective. The public areas energise. The rooms recover.

Cuyo and the Social Ground Floor

Cuyo brings the brand’s Los Angeles roots into the food programme. The Mexican-inspired restaurant moves easily from breakfast into evening, with greenery, warm tones, and indoor-outdoor seating overlooking the bay. Elsewhere, the shared Hyde and Mondrian complex broadens the choice considerably. Niko adds Japanese dining. Sonrojo sits closer to the beach with paella, grilled fish, sangria, and a distinctly Mediterranean pace. The result feels more like a small resort neighbourhood than a single hotel.

Hyde Beach

Hyde Beach is where the brand fully reveals itself. Pools. Cabanas. Cocktails. DJ sets. Long lunches that drift into afternoon. The architecture becomes secondary to atmosphere here, which is arguably the point. Yet the location prevents the experience from becoming completely placeless. Beyond the decks, Cala Llonga and the wooded hills remain constantly visible. Ibiza keeps interrupting the brand. In a good way.

Beyond the Pool

There is no traditional spa, and Hyde makes little attempt to pretend otherwise. Instead, wellness comes through movement and landscape. Yoga. Guided hikes. Walking through the surrounding hills. Beach time. A Technogym-equipped fitness space handles the more conventional side. The absence of an elaborate spa actually suits the hotel. This is built around activity, sociability, and being outside.

Why It Works

Hyde Ibiza works because Cuarto Interior understands that a lifestyle brand still needs an address. The rattan, timber, ceramics, greenery, terraces, and tactile guestrooms give Hyde’s global identity a genuinely Balearic frame, while Cala Llonga adds the one thing design cannot manufacture: a beautiful natural setting. It is large, social, and deliberately energetic, but the contrast between lively public spaces and quieter rooms keeps the experience balanced. Less barefoot hideaway than contemporary beach club with a very good hotel attached — and entirely comfortable with that.
