The Stay

Max Brown Hotel Missori, part of Sircle Collection | Milan, Italy

A Second Life in the Heart of Milan

Max Brown Missori proves that good design often begins with reinvention. Occupying a former Milan hotel just a short walk from the Duomo, the building has been transformed into the Italian debut of the Max Brown brand. Rather than starting from scratch, the renovation celebrated what already existed, carefully restoring original furniture and architectural elements while introducing a fresh, contemporary identity inspired by the optimistic spirit of the 1970s. The result feels authentic. Not manufactured.

Retro Without the Nostalgia

The interiors balance vintage charm with modern comfort. Chestnut browns, burnt oranges, natural wood, terrazzo, velvet upholstery, stone finishes, and playful graphic patterns create spaces that feel warm, relaxed, and unmistakably retro. Carefully sourced vintage pieces sit alongside contemporary furniture, while details such as the iconic Togo sofa, billiard table, curated coffee table books, and original wooden bar reinforce the hotel’s residential atmosphere. Nothing feels overly polished. Everything feels comfortably lived in.

Small Details, Big Personality

The 64 guestrooms continue the same playful design language. Available in sizes ranging from Tiny to Extra Large, they combine mid-century-inspired furnishings with thoughtful modern comforts, including colourful SMEG kettles, Crosley turntables, recycled-plastic bed frames, and carefully layered lighting. The rooms remain compact where appropriate, but always prioritise comfort, warmth, and individuality over unnecessary luxury. Design is present everywhere. Always with a sense of humour.

Creativity with a Conscience

Sustainability is woven into the hotel’s identity rather than treated as an afterthought. Much of the building’s original furniture has been restored and reused, while pieces that could not be incorporated were donated to local charities, giving them a second life beyond the renovation. Local artists regularly exhibit their work throughout the public spaces, turning the ground floor into a changing gallery that connects guests with Milan’s contemporary creative scene. The hotel feels connected. To both its city and its community.

Discovering Milan Like a Local

Located in the lively Missori district, within easy walking distance of the Duomo, Torre Velasca, and the historic centre, Max Brown Missori provides an excellent base for exploring Milan beyond its luxury boutiques. Cafés, neighbourhood restaurants, galleries, and everyday city life are all just outside the front door, making it easy to experience a more relaxed side of Italy’s design capital.

Why It Works

Max Brown Missori succeeds because it understands that personality matters more than perfection. Through thoughtful restoration, playful interiors, sustainable choices, and an easy-going atmosphere, it offers a refreshingly human take on contemporary hospitality—one that feels creative, welcoming, and unmistakably Milanese.
