Occupying the site of a former bank headquarters near Puerta del Sol, the hotel preserves only the monumental eighteenth-century granite portal designed by Pedro de Ribera. Minimalism with Character

John Pawson and François Champsaur approached the interiors with remarkable restraint. White Bianco Neve marble, pale oak, linen, leather, and softly textured surfaces create a calming architectural language that allows light and proportion to take centre stage. The defining moment arrives immediately upon entering: a spectacular sculptural spiral staircase, polished to perfection, rises through the lobby without visible handrails, becoming one of the most memorable architectural features in any European hotel. Elsewhere, traditional Spanish references appear subtly through tapestries, handcrafted details, and abstract interpretations of Pedro de Ribera’s Baroque ornamentation. Nothing feels excessive. Everything feels beautifully considered.

Rooms Designed for Calm

The 200 guestrooms and suites continue the hotel’s quiet architectural approach. Soft neutral palettes, bespoke oak furnishings, carefully integrated lighting, and sculptural headboards create serene spaces insulated from the energy of central Madrid. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame rooftops and historic streets, while the penthouse suites elevate the experience with private terraces, pools, and panoramic views stretching towards the Sierra de Guadarrama.
